When I look for toys for children, I make sure that they are age appropriate. For example, I would never buy a toy that would be too advanced for a child, or too babyish for a child. It should be geared towards a specific age, and development of a child. If the toy is for a young child, a toddler or younger, I will make sure that the toy meets all safety standards, and I prefer toys that do not have parts that could come loose, like a teddy bear with beaded eyes, or a train with very small wheels. I enjoy buying books for older children (5-10+) because I don’t think that the older children read as much as they should. I like to look for books that have adventurous appeal, and great storylines. I tend to stay away from electronic toys for older children because it seems that nowadays, all children do are play video games. I prefer to get toys that are more suitable for outside play, like squirt toys, or sports games.

“I find that even very young children are ready to work a mouse and keyboard. They instinctively know to use care when using a CPU and monitor. Therefore, I’d buy a basic CPU already loaded with an operating system, and find some low-priced accessories (mouse, keyboard, and monitor). Then I’d install the ISP software the child’s family is using, and show them how to find free online games. I’d download Open Office so the child can use document and spreadsheet software. As the child grows, the parents can buy appropriate software so the computer grows with the child.”

I have heard really good things about people buying from Disney lately so I decide to do another post about the great Disney sale that is going on. I absolutely love Disney products! I have been a Disney fan since I was young. I especially love the Disney movies- “Sleeping Beauty”, “Cinderella”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Little Mermaid”, and “Lady and the Tramp” are among my favorites. I love the characters in the movies, they are easy to love, and the villains are so different in each film.

The storylines are usually always great, and you never get bored while watching them. I also love Disney movies because they are kid friendly, from the youngest of ages. I have a young daughter, and she’s a fan of the Disney line of movies as well. I also love how Disney has “dress-up” clothing items so that children can dress up as their favorite characters! I think the quality of the clothing is exceptional, and it’s often priced right, and not too expensive. My family often finds themselves spending lots and lots of time at “The Disney Store” in our local malls! We can’t help ourselves!

When buying childrens’ books, I tend to look at the quality of both the illustrations and the quality of the writing. A good book for young children is one that teaches a good lesson, and is enjoyable as a story like “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. Books last forever and may be loved into adulthood.

One book series that I really like is the Zoobooks. Zoobooks are great especially if your child loves zoo animals which most children do. They are having a great deal right now, Check it out!
